Landscapes of Tuscany - The Val d'Orcia

Farmland in Val d'Orcia in the spring

The Val d'Orcia - Farmland in Springtime

The Val d'orcia stretches from the hills south of Siena by Monte Cetona to Monte Amiata, the highest mountain in Tuscany at over 1,700 meters and is made up of gentle, curving carefully-cultivated hills occasionally broken by gullies, stretches of river plain or hilltop wine towns such as Montalcino, home to the world famous Brunello wine, Pienza and San Quirico.

The farmed slopes are a vibrant green in spring and gold through summer and autumn. These farmed hills surround the hilltops where you can find cypress-surrounded villas and farmhouses, many that enjoy 360° views across the landscape. This is a sought after area, by buyers, visitors and photographers alike.
