The Val d'Orcia - Montegiovi in Springtime with Castel del Piano to the left. These are the foothills of Monte Amiata, and are to the south of the Val d'Orcia. The Val D'Orcia stretches from the hills south of Siena by Monte Cetona and past Monte Amiata, the highest mountain in Tuscany at over 1,700 meters and the valley is made up of gentle, curving carefully-cultivated hills occasionally broken by gullies, stretches of river plain or hilltop wine towns such as Montalcino, home to the world famous Brunello wine, Pienza and San Quirico. The farmed slopes are a vibrant green in spring and gold through summer and autumn. These farmed hills surround the hilltops where you can find cypress-surrounded villas and farmhouses, many that enjoy 360° views across the landscape. This is a sought after area, by buyers, visitors and photographers alike. Also See:UNESCO - World Heritage Site Val d'Orcia Val d'Orcia in Italian - Portal for all things to do with the Val d'Orcia
